New classes and weekend classes for the New Year!!

new moms - Bring your infant in a snugly seat and meet other new moms

mom & me - For moms and toddlers. Mom’s will help their child to hand sew puppets, dolls, bags and more.

sew with me - Parent & Child. Make memories together. Beginner-intermediate craft level.

sew cool - Ages 3 and 4. Simple sewing crafts using felt material.

sew funky - Grade K-2. Simple crafts with a sewing machine

stitch & sew - Grades K-2. this class is a great way to learn the skill of hand sewing and embroidery.

boys only - Ages 7-10. An introduction to the basics designed for beginners

sew sunday - Ages 7-10. Learn to use a sewing machine to create doll clothes, dolls, bags and sew much more!

sew simple - Grades 3-5. Kids will learn the basics of how to use a sewing machine and fashion design.

design class - Ages 11 & up. You will learn how to operate the sewing machine and focus on fashion design.sew much fun - Teens. Learn to sew clothes and accessories.

December's Fun

December has brought new changes to the It's SEW Crafty shop! Lots of new crafters have joined us,and extra classes have been formed to accommodate the wait list!!. The shop is now decked out with 10 new sewing machines and better work stations!

It's SEW Cafty and Parteaz are joining together for a Gift Making Workshop for ages 3-13 on December 4th 4pm-5pm located at 1860 Springfield Ave. Maplewood

Tips for Heming Pants

I've had quite a few people ask me how to hem a pair of pants. I will be the first to say I am not a seamstress- but I have some helpful tips that will make hemming pants a cinch!!

First- try the pants on with shoes-make sure they fit in the waist!

Second-have someone help you pin the cuffs up- use a ruler to make sure they are even all they way around. * bending over and hemming yourself will make it hard pin stright.

Third- with an iron press the new hem line in to place then pin the fabric to the inside, and try the pants on and make sure it looks ok in a mirror!

Forth cut off the excess fabric, leaving a hem allowance of 1 1/2" to 2"

Fifth-with an iron press the hem again then,hand stitch or machine blind stitch the hem in to place.

Zipper Appliques

In the Teen sewing class we made AWESOME zipper headbands! Some of the kids made square zipper appliques and attached them to their shoes, purses, and even made keychains!

Princess Slippers

The first week of class has been so much fun!!! I love meeting all the new kids and hearing about their sewing experiences. I have one 4year old girl who said to me "I've been sewing all my life" haha.... too cute!

This week in the SEW FUNKY class we made "princess slippers"

to make princess slippers you will need shoes,felt, sequins, thread and needle, foam,sewing machine(you can sew it by hand but it takes longer)

trace the shoes onto 2 pieces of felt, and foam then cut out the shapes. try not to mix up the right and left shoes

cut a 3-4 inch long and wide strip of felt for the top of the slipper

pin the shoe shaped felt together

sew around a half of the slipper to make a pocket.

insert the foam

sew closed

hand sew all the sequins onto the 3 inch felt strip

hand sew the felt strip to the front of the slipper

Camp towel made in Sew Camping workshop

This adorable camp towel was made this summer in the "SEW Camping" workshop.
One side to the towel is tie dye batik, the other is soft terrycloth, and the trim is satin ribbon. The student made a walrus applique out of felt, terrycloth and buttons.
This is really cute!
